Researching for this competition helped me explore more aspects of the Dokdo island dispute I never would have known. Before entering, I honestly did not know much about the details of the dispute.

While most people may think that it is a pointless debate over tiny, useless rocks, I found out about the diverse wildlife and vast resources that lie beneath the islands. Also, I discovered the importance of the islands to the Korean-Japanese border and the ownership of the East Sea. In addition, I was able to find various documents and articles serving as evidence for the islet’s true ownership.
