To raise awareness of the Korean island of Dokdo and the history surrounding it.

Essay & Documentary Topic:

Research and write an unbiased paper about the history of the Dokdo Island.

What is the significance and the importance of this island to the two countries South Korea and Japan?

Documentary Guideline

High School (Grade 9 – 12) College and Adult Could be in English or Korean

 

Please mail all documentary entries on a USB to P.O. Box 81 Wakefield, MA 01880 or upload your entry to Youtube and mark it as viewable with link only.


Please remember to format the email title this way so that it will be recognizable; otherwise we might miss it:

▶ Essay Rules:

Only one essay entry per student. Students must write their essay in one language: Either Korean or English.

 

Korean:

Essays must not exceed 5 (Five) pages in length (A4 Letter size). Excluding bibliography.
Essays must be written in 바탕 font and should be sized 12 (Twelve).
Only single spacing (No double spacing, triple spacing, etc…).
Must submit a MLA formatted bibliography along with your essay.

 

English:

Essays must not exceed 5 (Five) pages in length (A4 Letter size). Excluding bibliography.
Essays must be written in Times New Roman font and should be sized 12 (Twelve).
Only single spacing (No double spacing, triple spacing, etc…).
Must submit a MLA formatted bibliography along with your essay.
Please try to use primary sources over other source materials.

Please note to follow these guidelines and rules otherwise your essay will not be entered.
▶ Documentary Rules:

One documentary entry per person. The documentary can be in either Korean or English.
Please use both primary and secondary sources for your documentary, but try to limit the use of secondary sources.

The documentary must not exceed ten minutes.

The documentary must be your own content (e.g. no copy and pasting interviews and footages from other documentaries). If you do not follow this guideline, your entry will be considered plagiarized and immediately disqualified.

Reference footages are allowed (e.g. such as news broadcasts and images).

Please conduct your own interviews and research.
Must submit a MLA formatted bibliography along with your documentary.
Please note to follow these guidelines and rules otherwise your documentary will not be entered.
